Brandl Anderson Homes has taken a step forward in building green homes in Minnesota. As a leader in producing Energy Efficient homes the next step was to be the first home builder to have a National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Green Building Program certified home in Minnesota. Our Fall 2008 Parade of Homes in Hunters Crest , through independent third party testing, was the first Minnesota home to receive Green Building Program certification.

Green homes incorporate environmental considerations and resource efficiency from planning throughout construction of the home to minimize environmental impact. Energy and water efficiency must be a focus of the design, construction, and operation of a home. In addition, building materials, indoor environmental quality, and the home’s overall impact on the environment must be taken into account.

Many of the energy-efficient qualities of a green home are easy to spot. Brandl Anderson Homes uses appliances and windows that have ENERGY STAR® ratings. Water conservation is accomplished with fixtures and appliances, such as low-flow showerheads, faucets, and toilets, and ENERGY STAR® dishwashers and washing machines. Efficient lighting fixtures and bulbs are also key components in green construction.
